Meet Team Tomato: Sophie Parr

Hometown: Elmhurst, IL

Favorite Pizza: The Fun Guy

Favorite Non-Pizza Item: Beer

Favorite Beer: The Reverend by Avery Brewing. “It’s malty, but somewhat sweet.”

Favorite Musician/Band: “I don’t really have an all time favorite, but I’m really in to Adele and Tegan and Sara right now”

Mantra/Words to Live by: “Before you set out to change the world, be conscious of the circle you have the control to change.”

Sophie is on her second summer working at Wild Tomato as a server, but has been coming to Door County since she was five years old. “I love the life style Door County provides, I just smile when I cross into the county,” Sophie says.

When Sophie isn’t prescribing the perfect ale to quench the thirst of a Wild Tomato guest, she is likely training for a triathlon, taking care of her chickens or dreaming up public transportation systems. “I am obsessed with the CTA in Chicago, I could talk about trains all day,” said Sophie.

Her love of Door County and Wild Tomato keeps her coming back. “The staff is the reason I love this place, everyone has a different story, a different background. Sara also has a way of making you feel needed. Every time I come back and work it always feels like she is happy to see me.”

This summer Sophie is working at the Tomato, but also working toward a grant to improve Peninsula State Park’s trails and transportation flow. “I would say my dream job is to improve trail systems in parks. I want to help make state parks valuable destinations versus places that people take for granted.”

If you didn’t know…. It’s BRAT SEASON and this month’s Donation Creation features everything you love about a brat.

Featuring our house recipe beer brat, tomato, smokey sage onions and spinach over a four cheese beer sauce and topped with sauerkraut, this pizza will have you jonesing to fire up the grill.  This month benefits the Legal Aid Society of Door County.

The Legal Aid Society of Door County was founded in 1989 after a nimble group of community-minded attorneys recognized the legal needs of the poor in North Eastern Wisconsin were being underserved.

Located in Sturgeon Bay, the Legal Aid Society has provided counseling, representation and assistance to over 2,500 people. With no charge for services, the organization operates exclusively with donated funds and volunteer attorneys.

This month, you can eat the Donation Creation knowing that you are supporting an organization that connects low income residents to free civil legal services!
