Summer is finally here… and that calls for something a bit spicy! This month’s Donation Creation pizza features smoked pork, yellow and red peppers, and onions over a chorizo sauce, topped with cotija cheese, cilantro and a tomatillo drizzle.
And, this month’s pizza benefits the Open Door Bird Sanctuary, a nature center devoted to environmental education with Raptors. It is currently the permanent home for hawks, owls, falcons, and a vulture. ODBS is located in the heart of Door County, on County Road I, just south of Jacksonport. Combining education, natural behavior training techniques, and future rehabilitation, it is the only facility of its kind in Door County.
The Sanctuary is open to the public all summer on Saturdays from June 24th thru Labor Day, as well as Sunday July 3rd, and Sunday, September 2nd. Open time is noon to 4pm, featuring a fun and educational Raptor Show at 1pm, live raptors in their exhibit aviaries, hiking trails throughout the 33-acre sanctuary, and a picnic area. Off-site programs are also offered all year long in Door, Kewaunee, Brown, and Manitowoc counties.
Plus, anyone who orders a pizza will receive a free pass to the sanctuary!
